Description

The ABB 3HNM09846-1 is an industrial purge sensor assembly designed exclusively for the stringent safety and explosion-protection systems of ABB paint robot manipulators. Installed directly within the sealed cavities of the robot arm or its localized controller enclosure, this low-signal expansion unit operates in tandem with the primary purging system to ensure that hazardous, flammable vapors are completely evacuated prior to system power-up. By carefully measuring and verifying internal positive air pressure and gas density parameters, the assembly continuously validates the integrity of the protective enclosure. If a pressure loss or safety breach is detected during live operations, it communicates instantly with the main IRC5P controller to trigger an emergency shutdown, effectively isolating ignition sources and ensuring complete compliance with ATEX and international explosion-proof safety standards.
