The ABB PE1364B is a specialized, high-performance protocol converter designed to read and bridge data traffic between a Distributed Drive Communication System (DDCS) network and standard Ethernet networks. Acting as a slave interface on the high-speed optical module bus, it seamlessly extracts operational parameters from ABB AC80 or AC800 processing controllers and translates them directly into Modbus TCP formats. Enclosed in a rugged, grounded metal box configuration, this unit utilizes noise-immune plastic or silica fiber optic waveguides to interface with main industrial drives, providing critical isolation while establishing real-time diagnostics and data transparency across modern plant supervisory networks.
