The Allen-Bradley 1394-SR9A is a passive external shunt module designed for the Bulletin 1394 digital AC multi-axis motion control system. It is a panel- mounted resistor module that protects the servo drive system by dissipating excess regenerative energy from the DC bus as heat. It relies on a convection-cooled layout without integrated mechanical fans, requiring active transistor modulation from the connected motion platform to dump current through its inner resistive core and radiate it safely as heat energy.
