The Matrox Comtrol A20056 is a legacy 16-port industrial ISA-bus multiport serial adapter card utilized for high-density asynchronous data communications. Driven by an onboard 36 MHz specialized processor and dedicated Application Specific Integrated Circuits, the board circumvents conventional 16550 UART limitations by deploying massive internal FIFO buffers. This hardware-driven processing architecture significantly lowers host CPU utilization, blocks data bottlenecks, and handles dense multi-device routing for vintage factory automation networks, laboratory instruments, and legacy data terminal systems. |
