DIAGNOSTICS & PROTECTION

The connected MFA 4p or WM300 controller provides fail-safe motion alarms and pulse indication. Open circuit, short circuit, reversed probe wiring and relay faults can be identified through the controller diagnostics. Shielded wiring and separation from strong 50/60 Hz magnetic fields improve signal protection.

INSTALLATION & UPGRADE

Mount the probe on a vibration-free structure with its flange and maintain a safe target gap within the 100 mm sensing range. The MSP-3 requires a remote RMA amplifier; its standard 1.5 m high-temperature cable may be extended to 30 m using 18 AWG shielded cable. No firmware upgrade is required.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

MSP-3 operating temperature is -50 to +260 °C. The probe enclosure is Type/NEMA 4X, 6 and IP67 for indoor or outdoor service. This exact -0BA order version is for ordinary, non-hazardous locations and must be kept clear of corrosive conditions, strong magnetic fields and mechanical contact with the moving target.

MONITORING & CONTROL

The passive magnetic probe produces a pulse when a ferromagnetic target passes its face. The RMA converts the signal to a noise-resistant current pulse, while the MFA 4p or SITRANS WM300 compares pulse rate with the setpoint for underspeed, overspeed and loss-of-motion alarms. The probe itself has no display, network interface or local control.
