Munich, July 2025 - Siemens officially announced the completion of the acquisition of ebm‑papst's Industrial Drive Technology (IDT) business. This move marks its further efforts in the fields of smart logistics, warehouse automation and industrial robots, with the goal of creating more flexible and sustainable future factory solutions.
The acquisition will integrate ebm‑papst's brushless motors, low-voltage drives and control units into Siemens' Mechatronic Systems brand and incorporate them into its Xcelerator open digital business platform. This integration not only expands Siemens' product line in conveying technology and mobile robot drive systems, but also brings customers a more modular, plug-and-play system deployment experience.
Achim Peltz, head of Siemens Digital Industries, said: "We are building a more compatible and responsive drive ecosystem to meet the rapidly changing needs of manufacturing and logistics."
Control platform and product collaboration
In order to better support the integration of ebm‑papst technology, Siemens is also optimizing the compatibility system of its controllers and interface modules. In this context, the K3R072528605 communication controller, as a standard module in the existing industrial automation platform, provides basic data acquisition and insulation monitoring support, which can seamlessly integrate motors and drive systems to ensure the stability of equipment operation.
Although this model is only one part of the entire control architecture, it demonstrates Siemens' efforts to promote product universalization and module interoperability, and also lays a good foundation for subsequent intelligent deployment.
Future Outlook: From Products to Platforms
As the trend of digital factories continues to heat up, Siemens is accelerating its transformation from a "product supplier" to a "system integrator" and a "platform service provider". This acquisition not only enriches its drive product portfolio, but also demonstrates its strategic thinking with "platform + modularization" as the core.
By integrating technologies such as control, drive, edge computing and digital twin, Siemens is leading the global industrial automation towards a more efficient, intelligent and green direction.
If you are looking for drive modules, controllers or industrial-grade interface devices compatible with Siemens control systems, please feel free to contact us for support and solution suggestions. We will continue to pay attention to the latest developments in the Siemens ecosystem to help you seize the opportunity of automation transformation.
