Functional Description

The Allen-Bradley 1771-OW16 is a heavy-duty, chassis-mounted discrete contact output module engineered to switch independent external electrical loads via mechanical relay contacts. Operating as a channel-isolated interface, the module provides 16 individual Form A (normally-open) relay contacts where each channel is completely electrically isolated from the others, allowing the control of mixed AC and DC voltages on a single board. Designed for high-reliability industrial automation environments, it interfaces directly with the PLC-5 backplane, incorporating internal transient suppression circuits and robust optical isolation arrays to protect the central processing unit from heavy inductive load feedback, field surges, and grounding loop interference.
