The Bihl+Wiedemann BWU1840 BWU1416 are industrial-grade AS-i 3.0 master interface modules engineered to slot directly into Allen-Bradley 1769-type PLC backplanes. Functioning as specialized network controllers, these modules bridge the gap between high-level Rockwell Automation processors (such as CompactLogix or MicroLogix 1500 controllers) and low-level Actuator Sensor Interface (AS-i) field networks. By mapping binary sensor readings and digital actuator commands directly into the host PLC's input/output memory registers, they eliminate convoluted discrete wiring setups.
