The HIRSCHMANN RS2 FX/FX is an industrial managed Ethernet rail switch that operates using a store-and-forward switching mechanism to support reliable, fast data communications. It is purpose-built to aggregate and optimize mixed copper and multi-mode fiber optic cabling within demanding factory automation and control systems. The unit comes pre-configured with 5 Fast-Ethernet copper ports (RJ45) and 2 Fast-Ethernet multi-mode fiber ports (SC sockets), making it perfect for noise-immune network transmission over long distances. Managed natively via a web interface or SNMP v1/v2/v3, the switch supports crucial industrial availability features such as redundant power supplies, fault signaling contact relays, and Hirschmann’s high-speed ring redundancy structure (HIPER-Ring) to maximize network uptime.
