The 1757-FIM serves as a specialized communications gateway designed to integrate a FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 network into a Rockwell Automation ProcessLogix control environment. It is a double-wide module that plugs into a standard I/O chassis and can operate either as a standalone FOUNDATION Fieldbus interface or as an active bridge to fieldbus devices.By employing a dynamic data cache, the module bridges the network gap, facilitating bi-directional data exchange between high-speed networks (ControlNet/Ethernet) and lower-level field instruments. It handles both deterministic control messaging via publish/subscribe structures and acyclic configurations via client/server methods. A key function of the 1757-FIM is value-status mapping, converting data structures between ProcessLogix and FOUNDATION Fieldbus formats, allowing for native monitoring, full control integration, and cross-protocol data backups. |
