Description

The 1761-NET-DNI is a standalone, intelligent protocol conversion device manufactured by Rockwell Automation under the Allen-Bradley brand, designed to seamlessly integrate serial controllers into high-speed industrial networks. Acting as a protocol bridge, it converts point-to-point DF1 Full-Duplex serial signals into the distributed DeviceNet network protocol, establishing bi-directional data flow by forwarding local serial inputs to a DeviceNet master while pushing output commands back down to the controller. The interface supports both peer-to-peer explicit messaging for exchanging data files or program parameters across nodes, and remote programming access, which allows engineers to upload, download, and monitor ladder logic via RSLogix 500 without a direct cable hookup. Furthermore, the hardware features integrated galvanic isolation between the DeviceNet port and local serial paths, providing robust noise isolation that protects vital data signals from industrial ground loops and electromagnetic interference.
