The 1769-BA is an industrial-grade, non-rechargeable lithium manganese dioxide battery assembly manufactured for Rockwell Automation under the Allen-Bradley brand. Its primary function is to provide critical backup electrical power to preserve user-allocated ladder logic programs, system variables, configuration data, and internal registers whenever the main system power is completely disconnected or interrupted. Additionally, it continuously energizes the controller’s internal Real-Time Clock (RTC) chip during down periods, ensuring accurate time-stamping for system logs, faults, and production sequencing upon system reboot. Designed for quick field installation, it features a factory-terminated, keyed wire harness and connector plug that slips securely into the controller's internal power receptacle, preventing incorrect polar alignment or field short-circuit issues. It is also engineered as a low-lithium content assembly with only 0.29 grams of lithium metal, which exempts it from strict Class 9 hazardous air-freight transport regulations under standard ground conditions and significantly lowers compliance overhead during standard preventive maintenance distribution.
