The 1771-HS3A is a legacy, high-performance three-axis servo controller module designed for closed-loop motion control in demanding factory environments. Operating as an intelligent co-processor within a 1771 I/O chassis, it handles intricate multi-axis synchronization, position, and velocity profiles independently of the primary programmable logic controller's scan cycles. The module supports analog I/O velocity interfaces alongside advanced resolver or encoder physical feedback loops to translate mechanical position changes into highly localized, real-time control metrics. To retain system parameters, downloaded Motion Management Language (MML) programs, and axis profiles during major power failures, it features a plug-in cartridge mechanism utilizing a 1771-HM3A battery-backed CMOS memory module. It integrates a dedicated RS-232 serial interface for connecting configuration terminals or local hand-held pendants, allowing field engineers to adjust active machine coordinates and system variables. Additionally, front-panel LED indicators show operating health and axis tracking faults, providing clear diagnostics directly on the hardware line.
