The 1786-BNC is an industrial-grade ControlNet Coaxial BNC Crimp-style Connector designed by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) for high-reliability automation networking. Featuring a precise characteristic impedance of 75 Ohms and an IP20 environmental rating, this plug is specifically engineered to terminate standard low-loss RG-6 quad-shield coaxial cables (such as the 1786-RG6). It utilizes a specialized crimp design that ensures a rugged, permanent mechanical bond with the cable, shielding the high-frequency control data from electromagnetic interference common in factory environments. |

Equipped with a standard twist-and-lock coupling mechanism, the connector facilitates quick, secure, and toolless attachment to network taps while maintaining excellent signal integrity. By minimizing signal attenuation and reflections across the physical media, the 1786-BNC plays a critical role in maintaining the high-speed, deterministic, and repeatable communication required by scheduled ControlNet fieldbus networks. It serves as a foundational component for linking various controllers, I/O chassis, and human-machine interfaces across a unified plant floor. |
Application
l Coaxial Trunk Termination: Applied directly to the ends of RG-6 quad-shield trunk cable segments to establish standard, rugged BNC physical interfaces throughout the network layout.
l Network Tap Connection: Connects the prepared coaxial cable segments securely to the external BNC ports of ControlNet physical taps, such as the 1786-TPR, 1786-TPS, 1786-TPYR, or 1786-TPYS.
l Industrial PLC Clustering: Integrated into high-performance Allen-Bradley control systems (including ControlLogix and PLC-5 platforms) to link multiple processor chassis for real-time interlocking and data sharing.
l Control Cabinet Wiring: Deployed for clean network routing inside control enclosures, server racks, and protected industrial environments where components are safe from direct water spray or extreme mechanical vibration.
