Overview

The 1788-CN2FF is an intelligent communication bridging and gateway device developed by Rockwell Automation under the Allen-Bradley brand. This linking device serves as a transparent physical and network-layer gateway between high-speed ControlNet networks and process-oriented FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 fieldbus segments. By embedding this device into a control architecture, industrial facilities can link their Logix-based control systems (such as ControlLogix or CompactLogix) straight to field instrumentation, bypassing the need for specialized standalone controllers or complex backplane routing modules. Structurally, the unit features an open, compact form factor designed for immediate 35 mm DIN rail mounting within an electrical enclosure.
