The 1788-ENBT is a specialized industrial network interface module engineered by Rockwell Automation under the Allen-Bradley brand. It functions exclusively as an EtherNet/IP communication extension card designed to establish high-speed network connectivity for compact controller platforms, primarily the FlexLogix and DriveLogix automation systems. By utilizing a standardized network daughtercard architecture, this module acts as a bridge that integrates standalone control systems into plant-wide industrial Ethernet infrastructures seamlessly, bypassing the requirement for standalone external gateways. Once slotted into a host controller, the 1788-ENBT enables real-time messaging, scheduled I/O control, program uploading/downloading via RSLogix 5000 software, and cross-controller interlocking. It features an onboard web server that provides remote users with instantaneous module diagnostics, network status, and configuration details through a standard internet browser. The module utilizes standard twisted-pair Ethernet media and connects directly to standard industrial switches, eliminating complex cable scheduling while maintaining highly reliable data routing across enterprise-level or control-level networks.
