The 1794-OA8I is an industrial-grade discrete output interface module developed by Allen-Bradley brand. Designed as a modular component for the FLEX I/O distributed platform, this hardware module operates as a remote 120V AC switching interface. It allows central programmable controllers to command and actuate discrete field-side loads—such as motor starters, indicator lamps, and solenoid valves—over standard industrial network fieldbuses via a companion network adapter. The key feature of this specific variant is the "I" suffix, which designates that it provides individually-isolated channels. This layout allows each output to operate on completely independent electrical circuits, preventing cross-channel electrical interference and providing high fault containment. The module features a compact, open-style fingerprint engineered to plug directly into a compatible 1794 terminal base unit (such as the 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, or 1794-TBN). This structural split-architecture physically separates the wiring terminals from the active electronic component, optimizing panel layout efficiency and simplifying commissioning. Additionally, it fully supports Removal and Insertion Under Power (RIUP) capability.
